Carlos Nakai. FACES OF THE SUN is the next chapter in Kater's cross-cultural saga, featuring gentle, haunting instrumental pieces that utilize the talents of top-notch artists like Mary Youngblood, Bill Miller and Jeff Ball. The music has a soft new age style to it, with light drum beats, piano, strings and guitar. The melodies are serene with a hint of melancholy, calling to mind some of Kater's past works on Silver Wave Records. Rounding out the guest artist roster is an ensemble that includes Paul McCandless on oboe, Tony Levin on bass, Mike Hamilton on guitar and Hans Christian on cello.
